Apocalyptica - Mosaic Symphony

Apocalyptica - Mosaic Symphony

I was quite excited this week to finally get to see and download the Mosaic poster that Apocalyptica was preparing for their fans. In order to be a participant, one had to be one of the first 10,000 people to submit his/her picture. You betcha I was able to make it! I LOVE Apocalyptica!!!

Took me awhile to find where my face got on the mosaic but with the help of my sister, we finally found it. My pic is to the right corner, 20 rows down and 9th from the right. How cool!!!

Dreams and their meanings

I had some really interesting dreams last night so I thought I'd check out the Dream Moods dictionary to find out what they might mean.

For one, I was looking out the window of my house and was observing people in the garden. It seems I belonged to some sort of "vegetable garden co-op" wherein my neighbors and I would share vegetables that we were growing in our gardens. I checked out the symbolic meanings of these aspects.

Looking out the window:
To dream that you are looking out the window, signifies your outlook on life, your consciousness and your point of view. It also refers to your intuition and awareness.

Seeing a vegetable garden:
To see a vegetable or fruit garden in your dream, indicates that your hard work and diligence will pay off in the end. It is also symbolic of stability, potential, and inner growth. You need to cultivate a new skill or nurture your spiritual and personal growth.

Hmm...positive meanings!  I guess that means this cold, snowy weather is not going to spoil my week-end!  LOL!  Have a great week-end, everyone!!!

The Hurt Locker

The Hurt Locker DVD finally arrived at my house from my 1-DVD at a time Netflix queue.

Let me say that my initial expectations of the movie were not met - they were exceeded!   I've watched war movies before but none of them kept me glued to my seat like this one.  I literally couldn't keep my eyes off the TV screen.  In fact I felt like I must've been holding my breath throughout the movie, just waiting for the moment that either the explosives expert successfully detonated the "unexploded ordnances" or when the ground he was standing on gets blown up to smithereens.

Jeremy Renner was outstanding in his role as an military explosives detonator.  He was so naturally fitting for the role, so believable that you would want to know if he was really that brave and heroic or was he just a crazy thrill-seeker?

Before the movie was released, I anticipated The Hurt Locker to be full of cinematic effects and include more background soundtrack.  Although the movie played more or less like a documentary in the sense that there was more dialogue than special effects, director Kathryn Bigelow did an excellent job at making the viewer feel like part of the action and every breath-taking moment of it.

Yes, I agree...The Hurt Locker definitely deserved the Academy Awards that it received.  It is a must-have for any DVD or Blu-Ray movie collector.   I give both thumbs up to this one.

Marty Casey and the Lovehammers

Marty Casey

A collage I put together while I was still learning how to use Photoshop

When I was living in Champaign-Urbana in 1991, I wish I had known about the local band scene there.  Perhaps then I would have had the chance to personally meet Marty Casey and his band, the Lovehammers, before his stint as a contestant on Rockstar INXS shot his popularity up high.

Shortly after Rockstar INXS was completed, Marty Casey and the Lovehammers released an album which contained one of the songs that Marty Casey wrote and performed on the show.  The song is called "Trees", which instantly became #1 on the MSN Music Downloads chart in 2007.  Although this album was not the band's first album, this was probably their best-selling album, considering Marty's rise to fame via the reality show contest.  Besides that, it was the first one signed on through a major recording label.  I am one of the many fans that purchased that album and I must say, I still enjoy that album to this day.

The Lovehammers

The track listing for this album include:

1. Casualty
2. Hold On
3. Trees
4. Rain on the Brain
5. The Tunnel
6. Eyes Can't See
7. The Riddle
8. Clinic
9. Call of Distress
10. Straight As An Arrow
11. Clouds

Here's an acoustic version of "Trees" as performed by Marty Casey with Dave Navarro on Rockstar INXS.

Arcade

Arcade

This is an album from one of those so-called "supergroups" that recorded music, created a stir, followed it up with two more albums, and then kind of disappeared...

The members of Arcade include Stephen Pearcy (best known as the lead vocalist of Ratt) singing lead, Frankie Wilsex (from Sea Hags) on guitar, Donny Syracuse (studio musician?) also on Guitar, Michael Andrews on Bass, and Fred Coury (former Cinderella drummer) on drums.

The tracks to "Calm Before The Storm" include the following:

1. "Dancin' With The Angels"
2. "Nothin' To Lose"
3. "Calm Before The Storm"
4. "Cry No More"
5. "Screamin' S.O.S."
6. "Never Goin' Home"
7. "Messed Up World"
8. "All Shook Up"
9. "So Good... So Bad..."
10. "Livin' Dangerously"
11. "Sons And Daughters"
12. "Mother Blues"

The song "So Good So Bad" is one of my favorites from their first CD release.  This song, along with "Cry No More" details the pain felt by heartbreak and disappointment without making the listener feel depressed.  It's almost like saying there's hope somewhere beyond this all, but there's no avoiding the turmoil you have to go through before then.   Or maybe it could be that Stephen Pearcy just has that sexiness to his voice that makes you fall in love with the song anyway.  I just love it!

Jennifer's Body

What a surprise it was for me to find Jennifer's Body among the DVDs available for borrowing at my local library. I didn't expect to find the movie there because it's just one of those movies that you just don't find too worthy of artistic or theatrical criticism. After all, it's a movie whose publicity centered around half-naked photos of Megan Fox.

But since I had never seen the movie and it was there - where I could borrow it and view it for FREE - I decided to go ahead and add it to the other material I was going to check out.

When I first started watching it, I thought the storyline was totally unlike any of the reviews I had read about the movie.  Yes, Amanda Seyfried's character - Anita "Needy" - and Megan Fox's character - "Jennifer" - were the best of friends since childhood.  But they had an unbalanced relationship. They were total opposites, with "Needy" being the always eager to please, subservient companion to the self-centered, egotistical Jennifer.

These two friends were also classmates in school, always sitting by each other.  If the storyline were to have focused on the classroom setting more, you would probably expect to see Jennifer copying off Needy's work.  But of course, that's not what the storyline was about so you won't see that there.  (Whew!  Thank goodness because that would've really added to the boredom of the movie).

Then of course, this girly bonding is a focal part of the movie.  To spice it up (and probably to get some media attention) there is a girl-to-girl kissing scene which I thought was given a few more screenshots than necessary to fulfill whatever purpose it was supposed to serve.

While watching, I had to question why this relationship was such a primary focus in the movie, especially after that kissing scene.  I thought this was supposed to be a horror movie.  The horror scenes (if you wanna call those gory humor depictions "horror") were fairly mild in contrast to most movies that you'd find of this genre.  It's the reaction of the families of those that died that made the killings seem more ghastly and horrific than the scenes themselves.  The "families" did give pretty outstanding emotional performances, though, I must say.

There are some "horror" flicks that I wouldn't mind if I saw a second time.  But Jennifer's Body, I must say, is not really something I'd care to see again.  It's not really that bad of a movie.  Most of the actors look like they were really "into" their respective roles, enough to give each one a thumbs up performance.  I just feel like the movie is only something  you'd really make the effort to see if you just happened to be fans of the actors in it.   I'd rate this movie just two out of five stars (and that's probably being generous).

Her wardrobe malfunctions by Jake Gyllenhaal?

Jake Gyllenhaal causes Anne Hathaway to have wardrobe malfunctions!

Anne Hathaway
OMG..

"I have come to realize that if you put me in a room with Jake Gyllenhaal, my bbrra has a natural eject button."

Anne Hathaway jokes that her bbrra comes undone just by being in the same film scene as Jake Gyllenhaal, and she's got the evidence to prove it—her top came off in 2005 in Brokeback Mountain and she's bbrraless and then some in Love and Other Drugs, out next month.

Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal talked about their sxy scenes at a question and answer session for their latest film last night in New York. In the video posted by a fan on YouTube, Jake explains that having been in their birthday suits before made things easier the second time around.

"On a serious note I think we inherently as a result of having been nakd we were comfortable with each other and it led into this."

OMG

:)

Two Thoughts - Two Disappointing Heartthrobs

Ah man!  One of the celebrities I once had a crush on as a young girl in the 1970s turned up in the news recently in an-oh-such-a-disappointing way.  Don't you just hate that?!  David "I Think I Love You" Cassidy of The Partridge Family fame got arrested for DUI in St. Lucie, Florida last week.  And to think that he's already 60 years old!  I mean how disappointing is that?  You look up to someone all these years and they do something stupid like that...

And if we go back to last month, we'll see that another celebrity I once dreamed about constantly plead no contest to heroin drug possession - Leif Garret!  And my gosh, it's not even the first time he's been caught!  Shame, shame, shame!

Leif, honey, there's nothing that'll bring back those days when you were so idolized by screaming young women or young girls (like I once was).   But the only screaming women you're gonna see with what you're doing now are women screaming for you to stay as far away from them as possible!

Sigh! On a lighter note, news like that kinda makes me feel glad that my celebrity crush dreams never came true. LOL!!!

Hurricane Video Screenshots

Where did you go? where did you go? where did you go?
Heart beat, a heart beat, I need a... heart beat, a heart beat...

No matter how many times that you told me you wanted to leave...

No matter how many nights that you lied wide awake to the sound of the poison rain...

The secrets that we sold were never known
The love we had, the love we had  we had to let it go...

Where is your God? Where is your God? Where is your God? ...

Ok, I'm running from the light, running from the day to night...

Crash, crash, burn let it all burn
This hurricane chasing us all underground...
